The Mayor’s Office of Data Analytics (MODA) works with City agencies and their data to help serve New Yorkers more equitably and effectively. Enshrined in the New York City Charter in 2018, MODA’s work takes three main forms:
- Analyzing data to improve City agency operations
- Making Open Data more accessible to all New Yorkers
- Advancing citywide data infrastructure, integration, and sharing.
Analytics work performed by MODA ranges from quick data queries to long-term strategic initiatives designed to increase data-driven decision making in New York City government. Over the course of an analytics project, MODA works closely with an agency to understand the operational issue and associated data, design an applicable analytical model, and ultimately deliver actionable insights to improve operations.
